Who Oregon state holidays apply to
State holidays in Oregon are the days the state gives its own employees off with pay. They don’t bind private employers: whether your team gets these days off, and whether they’re paid, depends on your policy, your employment contracts or a union agreement.
Oregon doesn’t require private employers to give holidays off, but on Veterans Day an employer has to give a veteran employee the day off, paid or unpaid, if they ask 21 days ahead and show proof of service, unless it would cause significant disruption or undue hardship. Optional holidays
These days are on the state’s list but aren’t full paid days off, so they’re not in the count or the calendar download.
- Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Monday, October 11: optional holiday, paid only for SEIU-represented employees. To be confirmed. It’s a paid holiday only under the SEIU contract, which expires on June 30, 2027.
